Luca Mannutza - The Uneven Shorter CD

 

This new project by Luca Mannutza is intriguing, as it's dedicated to the music of his personal idol, the great Wayne Shorter.

Mannutza has managed to add his personal touch by primarily working on the rhythmic aspect of the music, while largely leaving Wayne Shorter's harmonies and melodies unchanged.

Using metric modulations, odd meters, and sudden changes in mood, Shorter's music takes a different direction from the original versions. New doors open onto unusual musical landscapes, guided by the remarkable talent of Mannutza and his quartet.
